Carly Fiorina plans to enter the
U.S. Senate race

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO and prospective U.S. Senate candidate, Carly Fiorina, whistle-stopped through San Diego yesterday saying that she will soon kick off her campaign to challenge Sen. Barbara Boxer next year.

Fiorina said that she just finished her last treatment for breast cancer and was given a clean bill of health by her doctor.

Accompanied by her husband, one of Fiorina’s last stops was a Lincoln Club reception benefitting Junior Achievement of San Diego and Imperial Counties.

Fiorina said that voters are concerned about health and education but give top priority to creating jobs and controlling spiraling deficits. “They want action and will not be impressed when they learn that Senator Boxer can claim credit for enacting only three bills in her sixteen years in the Senate—none involving very heavy lifting.”

When asked about her appeal to her Republican Party base, she said that Republicans want a winner. “The chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee has encouraged me to enter the race, reaffirming my belief that Chuck DeVore can not beat Barbara Boxer.”
