Marine veteran Nick Popaditch announced his candidacy on Tuesday for the Republican nomination in the 51st Congressional District seat held by Democrat Bob Filner, according to the Union-Tribune. Popaditch has served two separate stints in the Marines. He announced his candidacy at events in Chula Vista and El Centro. He was introduced by retired Rep. Duncan Hunter at both events.
