U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Vista) introduced legislation this week to protect over 21,000 acres of forest lands in Northern San Diego County, reported the North County Times. The legislation, H.R. 4304, has been assigned to the House Committee on Natural Resources. The bill proposes to designate 7,796 acres in the Palomar Mountain vicinity and 13,635 in the Beauty Mountain area north of Warner Springs. The bill follows a wilderness package signed into law last spring by President Obama that set aside 190,000 acres in Riverside County.
